We have strong links with our local churches including Hartford Methodist Church. The school enjoys Harvest assembly, nativity, and a carol concert at church. At Easter we have concerts and Easter Parades for pupils and families to enjoy.
Our Police Community Support Officers are involved with school life. Last year, the PCSOs attended science week, and writing week, sharing with the children how they solve crimes. They have also delivered lessons about online safety.
We believe that pupils should learn about and respect other communities. Our classes go on visits to learn about different cultures and religions for example Rusholm and China Town in Manchester, Synagogues and Cathedrals in Liverpool. This year, for our Harvest festival, children brought in flowers and plants which were distrubted to local care homes. We also enjoy charity events such as BBC Children in Need, Comic Relief and Sport Relief. We raise money for the Joshua Tree charity, support Macmillan coffee morning and the British Legion Poppy Appeal.
Our Year 6 pupils visit London and experience a tour of The Houses of Parliament and a workshop on our democratic voting system. Year 5 & 6 pupils all play a musical instrument and participate in a concert at The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester with The Halle Orchestra.
