Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Winnington Park Primary School and Nursery
At Winnington Park Primary School and Nursery, we believe every child deserves the best possible start in life. Our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provides a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children are valued, supported, and encouraged to explore and learn.
Our EYFS includes Nursery (from the term after a child’s third birthday) and Reception (from the autumn term after their fourth birthday). Our experienced teams work closely together to ensure a smooth progression across both year groups, helping children become confident, independent, and “school ready.”
We follow the national EYFS framework, delivering a child-centred curriculum that balances play, exploration, and structured learning. Children develop key skills in communication, language, literacy, maths, creativity, physical development, and personal, social, and emotional growth. Through meaningful play, high-quality interactions, and carefully planned activities, we foster curiosity, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning.

Focus on early literacy and numeracy: We use Little Wandle phonics, Talk 4 Writing, Drawing Club, Mastery of Number, and Power Maths to build strong foundations.

Observation and assessment: Regular monitoring ensures each child receives the right support and challenge to thrive.
By the end of Reception, children leave the EYFS confident, enthusiastic, and ready to succeed in Year 1, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and positive learning behaviours needed to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.
